Review: H’Suan Wen Hua from Lush!

H’Suan Wen Hua is one of Lush’s best selling hair treatments. It says this on the pot : “We all sometimes need to turn to the God of Hair. We packed into this pot everything we know of to put condition and shine back into the hair”. So true!. Indeed, sometimes our hair gets so damaged that we do need some help from a higher power and this one definitely does it :D. A fun fact is that the name of this product is pronounced as Xuan Wen Wua, which is the name of the Chinese God of hair!

The product comes in a black, recyclable pot that’s unique to Lush. It has a very fresh, organic and intense smell. When I first smelt it, the two ingredients I could pick out easily were bay leaves and cinnamon. There is also a faint smell of eggs. This protein rich hair treatment boasts an impressive array of ingredients such as :

Fresh Bay Leaf Infusion, Fresh Watercress Infusion, Fresh Free Range Eggs, Fresh Organic Bananas, Fresh Organic Avocado, Balsamic Vinegar, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lanolin, Rosemary Oil, Cinnamon Leaf Oil and some safe synthetic ingredients..

Just how good does those natural ingredients sound!. The product has a thin, liquid like consistency. It’s not troublesome to apply on to the hair though, nor does it drip once applied.

It is creamy beige in color with tiny specks of what looks like cinnamon to me, though it possibly couldn’t be since its cinnamon oil and not whole cinnamon sticks that’s used in this. Here is a closer look:

I apply this treatment onto dry hair, not damp hair. You need to keep it on for a minimum of 20 minutes only but I like to have it on for about an hour. I massage it on my scalp first and then on my entire hair. I then pull it into a bun and go about my usual chores, while it works it’s magic :). Then I simply use a shampoo to wash it off.

The result is hair that feels healthy and looks naturally shiny!. The banana in it softens the hair, the bay leaf infusion clarifies and tones the scalp, the balsamic vinegar gives the hair a beautiful shine and eggs pack in tons of proteins, thus strengthening the hair. The result of just one application is long lasting!. I have hair reaching elbow level and I didn’t really slather on way too much. So, I used up only half of the pot after two uses. If you have really thick and long hair, you might need to use the entire pot in one go. The pot contains 225gms.

I highly recommend you try this product. I use this only once in three weeks. I didn’t feel the need to use it more often since the results really last. This tub should be kept in a dark, cool place. It will remain fresh for 3 – 4 months.
